Age Discrimination

Someone, please, be honest with our senior drivers.  Tell them that as soon as they can no longer determine distance or speed, they cannot drive.    Following a little grandma today, I was amazed and worried;  she drove with her left front tire almost directly on the center dotted line.   The speed limit was 25mph.  I think she hit top speed at 20mph.   If she feels comfortable going slower and following the line, then it wouldn't be much of change to ride the bus and make it safer for us all.

Manual transmission

If you can't drive a stick shift, then do not endanger other drivers with your lack of skill.  Go buy an automatic and make the roads a little safer.

Cell Phone Distraction

Everyone these days is aware of cell phone distraction.  Few take it seriously.   Recently, while driving on a nearby highway, I continued to hear short bursts of a buzzing noise coming from behind me in traffic.  I looked in my rear view mirror once or twice, not sure who, what, where.  Suddenly, in my passenger side mirror, I see a car drift off the roadway, onto the grooved noise generators.  Sure enough, the driver was trying to text and drive.  I guess hitting a concrete barrier or another car would have been the "wake up" call for that driver.

Parking lots

Grocery store parking lots are the worst. It's as if all traffic rules are forgotten. The rule about backing out of a parking space into the driving lane: if the lane is clear and you are backing out, you have the right-of-way. A car entering the lane should stop and let you continue your exit of the space. Horn-blowing and zipping past at the last second to avoid having to stop is really stupid.
